Traveling: What’s in My Makeup bag

This upcoming weekend I heading down south to Portland, Oregon to visit my sister, brother-in-law and my niece! It’s going to be a short, but exciting weekend seeing them as it has been since last Christmas when I saw them last. As I have always done the last couple of years, I’m taking the train down. It’s easier for me just to let someone else do the “driving”. I mean, I really don’t want to spend 5+ hours on the road with other drivers.

Since I’m only going to be there for the weekend and it’s suppose to be another hot and sweaty weekend, I’m only bringing the makeup and skincare that I’m been using since it started to heat up! I switch from my L’Oreal foundation to Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Dark and since I haven’t been wearing eyeliner (it just melts off my face) I brought my new dual mascara I got at Daiso. All my makeup are easy to bring along: Rimmel eyeshadow, Forever21 bronzer & L’Oreal brow pencil.

As for my skin care, its’ the usual suspects: Sephora matte moisturizer, face serum & Maybelline matte primer. All this including my tooth brush & paste, deodorant, makeup brushes, eye-care stuff & other bits fits in my Sonia Kashuk makeup bag.

Now that I’ve got my beauty care bag pack, it’s on to my overnight bag.

June Favorites

How did it get to the end of June already! I’m not ready for July and it’s 100 degree weather. It’s hard enough to try to get through today which the highest was like 85º or so. Let just say, for those of us from the PNW, it’s pretty hot, especially when there is no wind blowing. ugh. Anyhow…

I’ve got a couple of favorites this month starting with food! Ever since I discovered the my local Fred Meyer’s started stocking Quest Nutrition Bars I now have someplace I go to regularly to some up when I run out and wait for my next online order! Now they don’t carry all my favorites flavors which is why I still order a box online (fave is oreo!), but they do have Double Chocolate Chunk and Chocolate Peanut Butter which are just as good! I like having this bars as a snack. Sometimes along, sometimes with a piece of fruit. They are high in protein and have a good balance of carbs, fiber and fat. They are a higher priced protein bar, but they are not overloaded with sugar like a lot of others out there.

I’m also been drinking Monster Energy drinks lately. I saw vlog where they were drinking it as a pre-workout and I thought I’d give it a try. Pretty good pre-workout, but I definitely drink one around my afternoon slump. Really wakes me up. So I’ve been really loving them. Especially the white. To be honest, no idea what flavor they are, if they even have a flavor…

I have two bronzer in my favorites, but only one of them I actually use as a bronzer. The Forever 21 Bronzer in tan is what I currently grabbing in my makeup routine. The shade really works well with my skin tone and easily blends in. The E.L.F. Golden Bronzer I’ve been actually using as either a highlighter or eyeshadow. The shade I picked up (and the only one they had at Target) is rather bright on my skin tone. It works so much better to highlight then bronze. Also, really good shade for a quick eyeshadow look! I’m also loving the NAR Rikugien. So much so, I’m officially out now. Guess I need to make that Sephora order pretty soon!

When I finally ran out of my InstaNatural Vitamin C, I had a bit of look around in TJ Maxx for something new. And it took about almost a month before I found one I wanted to try. I literally spent a month using those swipe on a cotton swab toners which I don’t like.  So I was so happy to finally find this one: Andalou Natural Illuminating Tone with Clementine +C. I really like the spray toner because I feel that more of the product stays on my skin!

And lastly, a new hair favorite: Hask Argan Oil form Morocco Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment. Since summer has came and the air has been just dry, my hair is suffering from it! Two) since I’ve slowly lightening the overall color of my hair, moisture seems to be zapped from it! I first found this from at Walgreens but I think I also saw them in Target. They also have shampoo and conditioner, which I haven’t tried, and repairing oil serum which is very good. So I’m loving this brand. I think I might have to try their shampoo & conditioner soon, along with their Nourishing Shine Oil.

What are you guy favoriting this last month, or recently? I’d love to hear some recommendation!

Life Update and Daiso Haul

I feel like a horrible blogger the last couple of weeks. But sometimes you’ve got to set aside some projects to focus on slightly more important things. Me, it was preparing for the half-marathon (which was just yesterday, pictures coming), getting use to my new gym, and all the major issues/problems going on at work. Also, with all my training, once I got home all I really wanted to do was eat and catch up with some videos. Such is life.

But now the half-marathon is done and I did get a little shopping done. My friend who came with doesn’t really like clothes shopping at malls like me, so I tried to keep it quick for her. Sad, I know, but I’ll eventually go shopping soon. Just without her. Love her, but its not fun like with E or my sister.

One of the places I got to hit up was Daiso, which they totally moved in the Alderwood Mall. I was like, where??!! Ahh, where are they?!! But then we saw a sign saying the moved to the other side. Wooo. I love Daiso. They had all the home things I was looking for: small snack bags, small containters, pens, etc. But I was more excited for the beauty section since they are decent quality for the price.

I got this Santée Diamond Mascara with the kitty cap, Santée Black eyeliner and I think blush. I really had to hold back and just grab one to try. If I like them, I think I might have to take a solo trip next month.

I was more excited about these though:

FACEMASKS!! Love these and so excited that they had some new brands and formulas. Excited to try these guys out.

Hopefully blogging will return to a normal pace. I’ve got a couple of post to write about this weekend, but I’ll work on that after a quick gym trip (need to do a recovery workout after yesterday) and grocery shopping for the week ahead. Going to start a new training program to get stronger and tone the places I feel weak about on my body.

Always a work in progress. Caio for now!

April and May Favorites

Makeup, May, April, Beauty, Favorites, Blush, Sunscreen

I had completely forgotten to do my April favorites, so this is going to be a combo of April & May. I think the reason I forgot was, well, I didn’t have many favorite things in April. Barely a handful.

Up until about mid-April, my go to foundation was the L’Oreal TruMatch, but since summer is here I’ve switch back to an old favorite, Maybelline BB Cream in the Dark Tint. My skin gets a couple shades darker the when the sun is out, so I find the a lot of the typical foundation a bit heavy during the summer time. I’ve tried two other BB creams before, and found that I really like the coverage of the Maybelline. Plus it also has 30 SPF.

Speaking of SPF, I needed to stock up with some new sunscreen since the ones I had last year probably were old. I grab this Hawaiian Tropical Island Sport Sunscreen in SPF 30. It’s really great! It blend in well and doesn’t make my skin greasy especially since I also use it on my face. It does have a slight scent, but it’s not overpowering.

Makeup-wise I’ve been reaching for my Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara and L’Oreal Limited Edition Project Runway Blush in        . The blush is a nice light shade on my cheeks and I also use it as a highlighter on the bridge of my nose and forehead. I got this a while ago at TJ Maxx but haven’t seen any other shades since. I was hoping to find a coral shade, oh well. And I’ve have a mascara problem, I really only like Maybelline’s. They are just the bomb!

Last is the Palmetto Derma face serum which I got in my birthday FabFitFun pack. I still have some of the Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum, but I really want to try everything in my package. I love this one! It goes on really smooth and dries fast.

So that’s April’s & May’s favorite. Sorry this is late. I was planning on having this up at noon today, but I didn’t finish writing last night since I was getting tired. And then this morning I ran my 11-miles. Which was proceeded by an upset stomach since I didn’t stay as hydrated as I should have. Lesson learned. Half-marathon is in two weeks and I’ll be done with long runs. After that my fitness goals are going to be more focus on losing the excess fat and building nice lean muscle. I was thinking about writing about that journey since I’ll be trying out some new… ideas. I think that’s the right word. But for now, ciao!

Giving Your Nails A Break

150526_OrlyBBNailCreme - 1

I love nail polish! Such an easy and quick way to change your look or outfit. But sometimes it’s a good idea to give your nails a break from the harsh chemicals and nail polish remover. Typically I don’t put anything on my nail other than rubbing some cuticle oil right after I wash dishes or before I go to bed. I remember my mom making me run garlic slivers over my cuticle saying that it will help keep my nails strong. Don’t know if it worked or not, but it really make my fingers smell.

But since getting my birthday goodies last month from E (post: Spring FabFitFun, which I believe you can still get), I’ve been trying to find time to try ORLY BB Créme.  Finally found a bit of time this weekend and I have to say that they look pretty well.

I did the typical preparations for my nails before painting them: trim, file, clean and rub some cuticle oil. It’s an all-in-one topical cosmetic treatment that is suppose to help to smooth, moisturize and brighten natural nails with a slight peach tint. I can’t really seen the tint, but it’s nice and shiny. It also gives my nails a smooth appearance which is nice. Great stuff!

Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask

Adovia, Mud Mask, Review, Purifying, Brandbacker

Sundays are my break days from the gym and running. I try to do most of my chore in the morning so that right after lunch, I can relax and take a break with some books or a tv show or two.

I also try to pamper myself with a at-home spa treatment. Manicure, pedicure, deep cleaning wash & conditioning my hair, and my favorite, face mask. Usually I stick to the Japanese or Korean sheet mask I have stocked up, but earlier this month I received Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask, so I’ve been giving that a try the last couple of weeks.

Theingredients in this all natural mud mask include many of following:

  • Dead Sea Mud
  • Bee’s Wax
  • Jojoba
  • Evening Primrose
  • Various Olive Oils
  • Aloe Vera
  • Chamomile
  • Vitamins A and C

The product claims to “effortlessly to eliminate the appearance of acne, shrink pores, and remove oil and other impurities from the skin. What you’re left with once you’ve rinsed the mask off is a beautiful, radiant, and healthy complexion that glows. This is a great way to reduce the appearance of aging while also reducing breakouts and leaving the skin completely refreshed.”

Adovia, Mud Mask, Review, Purifying, Brandbacker

You don’t have to go thick with this mud mask like I do with the Freeman clay mask. It it went smoothly on and didn’t have any fragrance. Since its only a thin layer on your face, the mask dried pretty fast. It was cooling and never felt like it was pulling on my skin like some other ones I have tried. After washing it off, my skin instantly felt softer.
A couple days later I notice some pimple spot had completely dried out (yay!) and my skin on my cheeks and nose area looked smoother. I’m definitely going to be using this mask for a while!

The opinions I shared about using this skincare product are my own, and Adovia did not tell me what to say or how to say it. Sponsored post powered by BrandBacker.
