Traveling: What’s in My Makeup bag

150722_Traveling_MakeupBag

This upcoming weekend I heading down south to Portland, Oregon to visit my sister, brother-in-law and my niece! It’s going to be a short, but exciting weekend seeing them as it has been since last Christmas when I saw them last. As I have always done the last couple of years, I’m taking the train down. It’s easier for me just to let someone else do the “driving”. I mean, I really don’t want to spend 5+ hours on the road with other drivers.

Since I’m only going to be there for the weekend and it’s suppose to be another hot and sweaty weekend, I’m only bringing the makeup and skincare that I’m been using since it started to heat up! I switch from my L’Oreal foundation to Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Dark and since I haven’t been wearing eyeliner (it just melts off my face) I brought my new dual mascara I got at Daiso. All my makeup are easy to bring along: Rimmel eyeshadow, Forever21 bronzer & L’Oreal brow pencil.

As for my skin care, its’ the usual suspects: Sephora matte moisturizer, face serum & Maybelline matte primer. All this including my tooth brush & paste, deodorant, makeup brushes, eye-care stuff & other bits fits in my Sonia Kashuk makeup bag.

Now that I’ve got my beauty care bag pack, it’s on to my overnight bag.

April and May Favorites

Makeup, May, April, Beauty, Favorites, Blush, Sunscreen

I had completely forgotten to do my April favorites, so this is going to be a combo of April & May. I think the reason I forgot was, well, I didn’t have many favorite things in April. Barely a handful.

Up until about mid-April, my go to foundation was the L’Oreal TruMatch, but since summer is here I’ve switch back to an old favorite, Maybelline BB Cream in the Dark Tint. My skin gets a couple shades darker the when the sun is out, so I find the a lot of the typical foundation a bit heavy during the summer time. I’ve tried two other BB creams before, and found that I really like the coverage of the Maybelline. Plus it also has 30 SPF.

Speaking of SPF, I needed to stock up with some new sunscreen since the ones I had last year probably were old. I grab this Hawaiian Tropical Island Sport Sunscreen in SPF 30. It’s really great! It blend in well and doesn’t make my skin greasy especially since I also use it on my face. It does have a slight scent, but it’s not overpowering.

Makeup-wise I’ve been reaching for my Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara and L’Oreal Limited Edition Project Runway Blush in        . The blush is a nice light shade on my cheeks and I also use it as a highlighter on the bridge of my nose and forehead. I got this a while ago at TJ Maxx but haven’t seen any other shades since. I was hoping to find a coral shade, oh well. And I’ve have a mascara problem, I really only like Maybelline’s. They are just the bomb!

Last is the Palmetto Derma face serum which I got in my birthday FabFitFun pack. I still have some of the Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum, but I really want to try everything in my package. I love this one! It goes on really smooth and dries fast.

So that’s April’s & May’s favorite. Sorry this is late. I was planning on having this up at noon today, but I didn’t finish writing last night since I was getting tired. And then this morning I ran my 11-miles. Which was proceeded by an upset stomach since I didn’t stay as hydrated as I should have. Lesson learned. Half-marathon is in two weeks and I’ll be done with long runs. After that my fitness goals are going to be more focus on losing the excess fat and building nice lean muscle. I was thinking about writing about that journey since I’ll be trying out some new… ideas. I think that’s the right word. But for now, ciao!

Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask

Adovia, Mud Mask, Review, Purifying, Brandbacker

Sundays are my break days from the gym and running. I try to do most of my chore in the morning so that right after lunch, I can relax and take a break with some books or a tv show or two.

I also try to pamper myself with a at-home spa treatment. Manicure, pedicure, deep cleaning wash & conditioning my hair, and my favorite, face mask. Usually I stick to the Japanese or Korean sheet mask I have stocked up, but earlier this month I received Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask, so I’ve been giving that a try the last couple of weeks.

Theingredients in this all natural mud mask include many of following:

  • Dead Sea Mud
  • Bee’s Wax
  • Jojoba
  • Evening Primrose
  • Various Olive Oils
  • Aloe Vera
  • Chamomile
  • Vitamins A and C

The product claims to “effortlessly to eliminate the appearance of acne, shrink pores, and remove oil and other impurities from the skin. What you’re left with once you’ve rinsed the mask off is a beautiful, radiant, and healthy complexion that glows. This is a great way to reduce the appearance of aging while also reducing breakouts and leaving the skin completely refreshed.”

Adovia, Mud Mask, Review, Purifying, Brandbacker

You don’t have to go thick with this mud mask like I do with the Freeman clay mask. It it went smoothly on and didn’t have any fragrance. Since its only a thin layer on your face, the mask dried pretty fast. It was cooling and never felt like it was pulling on my skin like some other ones I have tried. After washing it off, my skin instantly felt softer.
A couple days later I notice some pimple spot had completely dried out (yay!) and my skin on my cheeks and nose area looked smoother. I’m definitely going to be using this mask for a while!

The opinions I shared about using this skincare product are my own, and Adovia did not tell me what to say or how to say it. Sponsored post powered by BrandBacker.

Review: Vitamin C Serum

150429_VitaminCSerum
While the packaging is pretty simple and plain, Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum is great! It applies easy and doesn’t feel heavy, so it is a good serum to give a boost of hydration after a good face wash. It’s a gentle, all-natural serum that contains Vitamin C, Retinol, Salicyclic Acid Hyaluronic Acid and some essential oils.
It doesn’t have a strong scent (which is always a plus for me in skin care) and once applied, it definitely hydrates and firms the skin. I’ve even notice that my pores are a bit smaller, which is great since I have some really big pores on my cheeks. I like using it in the morning right before my moisturizer and my daily makeup, but I’m pretty sure you can even just use this without a moisturizer. If you guys want to try the serum, you can get it here.

April Beauty & Body Care Haul

150427_AprilBeautyHaul_1
Looking at this pile, I kind of think it might be a bit much. Typically I buy what I need and then maybe treat myself to one or two fun item. However, I was definitely gave in to makeup temptation.
I did do some repurchases like the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation in Soft Sable and the Afaffia African Black Soap in Vanilla Almond. I really love this stuff. It such a multipurpose soap product. I use it not only to wash up with, I love using it as my face wash, shaving soap and, when I need to, wash my hair. I used the peppermint one last time, but I really love the smell of the vanilla almond. It smells so nice!
I was really feeling spring this very spring-like recently so I brought these pastel nail polish. You probably already know that I’ve been loving Rimmel London 60 Second Nail Polish in Sweet Lavender. Don’t ask why the Covergirl polish is there, I grab the wrong one. It was suppose to be another polish, but I couldn’t find it. Drup. Then I also brought this Conditioning Cleanser by Salon Graix. I think it suppose to be similar to the Wen Conditioning Cleansers. I’ve used it once and it pretty good. Though I feel like I have to use more of this stuff than the Wen. It also could be its in a smaller bottle.

How I ended up with two mascaras is beyond me. I grab the Rimmel London Glam’Eyes earlier in the month. While I like the coverage, I’m not too much of a fan of the plastic bristles. Two side are a bit longer than the other two which I think is suppose to make the lashes look longer. So I brought the Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara, which has the brush like wand instead. I’ll probably use both, but Maybelline has always been my go-to for mascara, so I’ll probably use that more.
I also got myself L’Oreal La Palette Nude 2 which I plan on posting a review on, but it’s good. Sticking with the eye products, my most disappointing product is the essence eyeliner pen. When I wear eye I like a nice thick, dark line and this one just doesn’t do it for me. I had to layer it on.
The last bits are the E.L.F. contouring palette and L’Oreal Project Runway Limited Edition Blush in The Muse’s Blush. I haven’t tried the blush yet, as I just brought it yesterday, but I have been using the contouring palette. It’s pretty good, but I haven’t tried any other to compare it to, so, yeah.
So that it’s for April’s makeup purchases. And since I feel like I spent too much on makeup, I’m probably not going to buy any in May. What goodies did you all get yourself?

Spring FabFitFun

Even though she had told me to be on the lookout for a special subscription box coming my way for my birthday, I was surprised to see a box at my front door yesterday. I had to text her right away to see if this was what she had sent over and it was! I’ve never gotten a FabFitFun box before, so I was quite excited!

Yasi Metallic Flash Tattoos, Merrithew DVD set “Intense Body Blast (and a $25 Gift Card), Vow to Be Chic Gift Card, and a Hello Fresh Gift Card.

I have to say this is an awesome subscription box, well worth the price. I know that E got a discount for this purchase, but even, you are getting a lot. I’m really excited to try the beauty and nail products. I’ll have to wait a bit, since I just painted my nails, but I might start using the serum as part my routine. I’m also going to try out Hello Fresh. I think it will be kind of fun to try a meal-kit.

What do you all like the best out of the spring 2015 box?
